Santiago Picatoste

Santiago Picatoste is a young painter from Majorca (born 1971). He belongs to the new generation of majorcin artists. Today he lives and works in Madrid. The exhibition in Asbaek's Underground is his first show in Denmark.

Picatoste's favourite subject is flowers. He paints them over and over again with a vitality, that results in sensational flower-explosions.

"That strange sensation that we are standing before something familiar and immediate yet, at the same time, novel, fresh and original is what we have felt whilst contemplating the paintings og Santiago Picatoste."
